Welcome to the Community Hub for our Ruby Triangle development.
As you may have noticed, over the last year there has been various activities onsite.
We have undertaken multiple investigations in preparation of commencing works for the delivery of residential homes, an affordable retail and business space, a communal park and a public sports hall and gym.
Archaeology investigations have been undertaken by Museum of London Archaeology.
This was necessary because the site sits within the Archaeological Priority Area, a common place for Roman remains, because the Old Kent Road roughly follows the same route as a Roman Road leading to London called Watling Street.
The results of the phase 1 investigations recorded nothing of archaeological significance from the prehistoric, Roman or Medieval periods. However, a full conclusion will be able to be provided after phase 2 investigations are carried out during and after demolition. A trench phase plan is shown below.
Fairhurst Geotechnical and environmental team has carried out various deep and shallow investigations around site to amongst others:
· Provide geo-technical & geo-environmental coverage;
· Undertake gas and ground water monitoring;
· Establish the engineering properties of the soils underlying the site;
Cable percussion boreholes we’re required for the deep investigations, which went to depths of 20 & 30 meters below ground level. Window samples and soakaway tests to depths of 6m we’re used for the shallow investigations. Like archaeology, a full conclusion will be able to be provided after phase 2 investigations are carried out during and after demolition.
